Chris Jones

Chris is a pioneering Composites Specialist at Rolls-Royce with 35 years of aerospace expertise. Twenty-four years ago, he pivoted from the traditional metallic design of the Airbus A380 to embrace the lightweight world of composite materials. 

A true trailblazer, Chris introduced automated fiber placement to the UK’s only serial production line, revolutionising A350 spar manufacturing and establishing factories in both the UK and the US. For the past decade, his focus has shifted toward advanced textiles and 3D weaving. 

Today, Chris is pushing the boundaries of aviation efficiency by developing next-generation composite applications for Rolls-Royce’s cutting-edge UltraFan technology.
